BROWNSTOWN, Ind. -Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal off-road vehicle (ORV) crash that occurred Sunday in Jackson County. Shortly after 4 p.m., authorities responded to the intersection of County Roads 225 West and 450 North, between Brownstown and Freetown.
The initial investigation indicates that Robert Carr, 78, of Brownstown, was operating a side-by-side ORV with two passengers when he disregarded a stop sign and was struck by a car driven by Lucas Rogers, 58, of Seymour.
All ORV occupants were ejected. Carr and one of his passengers were transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis where Carr was later pronounced dead.
No seat belts, helmets, or safety equipment were being used by the ORV occupants at the time of the accident. This incident remains under investigation.
