COLUMBUS, Ind. – A new book, American Modern: Architecture, Community, Columbus, Indiana, is scheduled to be published by The Monacelli Press next summer. Landmark Columbus Foundation (LCF) is working with the publishers and helping them give the Columbus story the complete treatment it deserves. The book will be distributed worldwide.

Iwan Baan provides the book’s photography, with words by Columbus native Matt Shaw and design by Studio Lin.

To promote the upcoming book, there is an American Modern Reception and Talk this Wednesday, November 1, at the Columbus Area Visitors Center, 506 5th St. The event begins with a reception from 5:30 to 6 p.m. where you will have a chance to view the exhibition. A talk will follow by American Modern writer Matt Shaw, and Richard McCoy, executive director of LCF. The reception is free and you can register for it here.

At the gathering on Wednesday, you will learn how to become part of this historical moment and support the book. Supporters at a level of at least $1000 will receive their name in the book, a signed copy, and a silkscreen print.

A new exhibition of never-before-seen photographs that will be in this book about Columbus, Indiana, by legendary photographer Iwan Baan and three silkscreen prints by Studio Lin that expand on the book’s design and cover, is now open at the Columbus Area Visitor Center Gallery 506.
