NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a report of a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 50, near County Road 20W, on Monday, January 1, at around 6:30 p.m.
The initial investigation by the Jennings County Crash Reconstruction Team revealed that a car driven by Hauley Reynolds, 31 of Columbus, traveling westbound on US 50, crossed the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle being driven by Billy L. Sexton III, 32, of North Vernon.
The New Year’s Day collision resulted in the death of both drivers. A passenger in Sexton’s vehicle was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
US 50 was closed for about two-and-a-half hours for investigation and clean up. JCSO says the investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are pending on both drivers.
