Louisville man arrested for stealing from Home Depot in Seymour

SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) on Monday released information about a robbery that took place last Tuesday, January 23, in Seymour.

Home Depot Asset Protection contacted investigators at around 8:15 that evening and advised that an individual who had supposedly committed numerous prior thefts at the Home Depot was reportedly just in the store and had taken more merchandise.

A short time later, the Scottsburg Police Department stopped the suspect vehicle on I-65. SPD responded and the driver and his car were brought back to Seymour.

The suspect was identified as Christopher J. Tyrrell, 54, of Louisville. He allegedly told detectives that he had taken items from the Home Depot in Seymour five different times since November 2023, The value of the articles was estimated at over $7,000.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle. The merchandise supposedly stolen from Home Depot on January 23 was recovered.

Tyrell was arrested, taken to Jackson County Jail, and charged with four counts of theft (Level 6 felonies) and one count of theft (Class A misdemeanor).
