GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) recently celebrated the retirement of Lt. Nat Ridge. After nearly 27 years of service to the City of Greenwood, Lt. Ridge hung up his helmet for the final time.
Ridge was hired in September 1997 as a part-time firefighter and transitioned to full-time in March 2000.
During his career, he received many accommodations such as the Life Saver Award in 2001, the Mayor’s Award in 2004, the Paramedic of the Year Award in 2010 and 2022, the Honor Guard Award in 2011, the Dick Van Valer Award in 2018., and the Company Officer of the Year in 2021.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June 2013 where he served and finished his tour of duty at Station 92.
A spokesperson for GFD said, “We will miss Lt. Ridge every third day and we thank him for his selfless service and dedication to Greenwood and Johnson County.”
