COLUMBUS, Ind. – Thousands of visitors are expected to gather in and around the Columbus community on April 8 to witness a rare celestial phenomenon. A total solar eclipse will occur, during which the moon will completely obscure the sun’s photosphere, blocking all direct sunlight from reaching observers.
It is crucial to note that looking at the eclipse without proper eye protection can lead to permanent damage to the retina.
To ensure safe viewing, the Columbus Area Visitor’s Center has free ISO 12312-2 rated viewing glasses available starting today, March 19, at Visit Columbus, Indiana.
The glasses will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
