SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. – The Columbus/Bartholomew County Citizens Alert System has announced that most of south-central Indiana is under a Flood Advisory until !0:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Counties included in the Flood Advisory area are portions of Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, and Brown.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Minor flooding is possible in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

At 6:30 a.m., Doppler Radar indicated heavy rain and thunderstorms in the region. One to two inches of rain have fallen and another half-inch is expected.

Cities and towns that could experience flooding are Columbus, Edinburgh, Seymour, North Vernon, Hope, Greensburg, and Nashville.

Bartholomew County Emergency Management authorities remind you to “turn around and don’t drown” if you encounter water across a roadway. Most deaths from flooding occur in vehicles.
