INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced on Monday that the March unemployment rates for local counties in south-central Indiana were either slightly lower or held steady compared to the previous month.
For Bartholomew County, the March rate was 3.6%, down from February’s 3.7%. The county reported 41,776 employed residents out of a 43,332-person labor force.
Johnson County’s March rate was 3.4%, which was steady with the February numbers. Employed workers totaled 84,669 from a possible 87,637.
Jackson County recorded a 3.4% March unemployment rate, the same as last month. It reported 21,704 employed residents out of a possible 22,464.
The Jennings County rate for February was 4.4%, compared to 4.6% in February. There were 12,771 workers out of a possible 13,359.
Indiana state officials at DWD also announced that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for March was 4.1%, decreasing from 4.2% in February.
