COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) cautions that the area has the potential to be hit with severe weather over the next couple of days. The risk is described as “slight” on Tuesday and “enhanced” on Wednesday.

Strong, but mainly sub-severe thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an increased threat for severe thunderstorms forecast later Tuesday from 3 to 10 p.m. Hail and heavy rain are the main threats.

Another potentially more potent, severe threat is possible on Wednesday. The primary timing for potential severe weather on Wednesday is the afternoon into the overnight hours, between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m. Large hail and damaging winds are possible both days with an elevated flooding threat on Wednesday.

Again, the risk is slight on Tuesday, with more of a chance on Wednesday. BCEM and the National Weather Service will provide updates as the situation develops.
