BATESVILLE, Ind. – Ripley County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bob Curl and Indiana State Police (ISP) Trooper Vince Scott braved floodwaters Wednesday morning on Salem Road, near Batesville, to rescue a man who drove into high water and became trapped on top of his vehicle.

The citizen was safely returned to shore without injury.

Law enforcement reminds you to be careful and not take chances when water is over the roadway.

ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said, “Nice job Trooper Scott and Deputy Curl in a situation that could have turned out much worse. We have received a lot of rain over the past few days. Expect to see water on our roadways. Remember…turn around, don’t drown.”
