COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two Bartholomew County residents and one from Johnson County, are in custody after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) SWAT Team executed a search warrant at their home. The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into the burglary of a local business earlier in the month.

On June 12, officers received a burglary report from a business in the 4500 block of N. Long Road. Later. Tools were missing and they had video footage of two suspects.

Detectives from the CPD Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division identified Brian Sheckles, 34, of Trafalgar, and Anthony Sanabria, 27, of Columbus, as the suspects who entered the business. Sheckles was previously arrested by CPD officers on an unrelated preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony), on June 18 and remains in the Bartholomew County Jail.

Investigators secured a search warrant on June 21 for Sanabria’s home, at 4972 North County Road 150W, Lot 14, to look for the stolen tools. Sanabria and Nicole Hernandez, 41, of Columbus, were initially detained. During the initial search, drugs were allegedly discovered, and the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) obtained a subsequent search warrant.

From the warrant, officers supposedly found drugs, drug-related items, and a handgun at the residence. Sanabria was arrested for the preliminary charge of burglary (Level 5 Felony). Hernandez was arrested and preliminarily charged with maintaining a common nuisance, (Level 6 Felony), possession of meth, (Level 6 Felony), possession of cocaine (Level 6 Felony), and possession of paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor).

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges for all three are possible. The ILP Unit, SWAT Team, and JNET are combined teams with officers from the CPD and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.
