WALESBORO, Ind. –  A semi-tractor trailer was involved in an accident and caught fire on southbound I-65 early Wednesday morning at Mile Marker 64.5 between County Road 350S and State Road 58 near Walesboro, causing a multi-lane closure of I-65.

The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) and the Indiana Department of Emergency Management responded to the well-involved blaze at around 2:30 a.m. The truck was transporting paint products.

Because of the wreck and fire, both right lanes of southbound I-65 were closed for over five hours, causing significant traffic delays while law enforcement and fire crews removed the wreck and debris.

The expressway was finally cleared about 8:40 a.m. CFD says no serious injuries were reported.
