NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) pulled over a car after a traffic infraction near State Road 3 and County Road 750S on June 19.
During the traffic stop, when deputies suspected drug activity, K-9 Partner Dino was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The police dog gave a positive alert to the odor of illegal narcotics.
After a probable cause search of the vehicle, JCSO allegedly located about 25 grams of methamphetamine that a passenger, identified as Virgil Gillmer Jr., had tried to conceal in a gas station fountain drink.
The driver was released after Gillmer advised deputies that the items were his and that the driver had no prior knowledge of the substances.
The suspect was taken to the Jennings County Jail and held on a $100,000 bond for the preliminary charges of Possession of Meth (Level 4 Felony) and Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony).
