United Way ‘Day of Service’, ‘Impact Lunch’ are September 11

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The United Way of Bartholomew County’s annual Day of Service and Impact Lunch will be here next month. The two free community-wide events on September 11 are focused on reducing poverty and making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.

The Day of Service is at dozens of locations across Bartholomew County, bringing together local businesses and community members to volunteer at nonprofit organizations on projects that meet critical needs. Register at uwbarthco.org by clicking the “Volunteer” tab once registration opens in the coming weeks.

The Impact Lunch is at Amazing Joe’s Grill, 2607 Central Ave., in Columbus. The donation is $20. Tickets can be purchased at uwbarthco.org under “Impact Lunch.” Guests will choose an 11 a.m. or noon seating. Everyone attending the lunch will be entered to win a year of free dinners from Amazing Joe’s.

“Day of Service and the Impact Lunch is a chance for our community to come together and use its strengths to reduce poverty and homelessness in Bartholomew County,” said Magen Pillar, Director of Communications and Marketing at United Way of Bartholomew County.

All proceeds from the Impact Lunch support United Way’s campaign to lift 1,000 families out of poverty within 2,000 days and make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
