SEYMOUR, Ind. – A truck driver was arrested on numerous charges after leaving the scene of an accident on I-65 in Jackson County, on Sunday morning.

An Indiana State Police (ISP) trooper responded to a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder of northbound I-65, near the 53-mile marker, just north of Seymour, at around 10:30 a.m. The officer was aware of an earlier incident where a truck had left the scene after hitting a guardrail.

The driver, Kendarius C. Poole, 29, of Georgia, claimed he had stopped because he had flat tires and that he had not been involved in an accident. However, the trooper noticed the semi had fresh damage from a crash.

As the investigation continued, another trooper and K-9 Jinx responded and Jinx alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the truck. During a search, ISP allegedly found suspected marijuana and synthetic urine. A search warrant was obtained for a blood-draw of the suspect.

Poole was arrested and jailed for leaving the scene of an crash, possession of marijuana, possession of synthetic urine, operating while intoxicated, and operating while intoxicated-endangerment.
