COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies were called to the scene of a truck/pedestrian accident in the 3700 block of East State Street, at around 5:30 a.m., on Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a man on the side of the road.
Officers speculate that the man who was hit, Ronald Jones, 59, of Columbus, had allegedly been walking on the roadway when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Roger Kretzer, 61, of Columbus.
Jones was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where his current condition is unknown, and Kretzer was released from the scene.
BCSO is still investigating the accident.
