COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Regional Health (CRH) Wound Center is celebrating national recognition for excellence and working to raise awareness of the risks of chronic wounds during the eighth annual Wound Care Awareness Week, this week.

Nearly seven million Americans live with non-healing wounds, due to the aging population and increasing rates of diseases. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb. Even more alarmingly, 50% of people die within five years of amputation.

To support this underserved and growing population of people, the CRH Wound Center and a national wound-healing expert network offer an evidence-based, systematic approach to advanced wound care.

Under this comprehensive method, the CRH Wound Center has been named a Center of Distinction, given a Clinical Excellence Award, and honored as an overall Center of the Year for 2020.
