Jose's Blog: Fear Fair Review 2019

For many years, probably since 2nd grade, when I was told about Fear Fair, I didn’t want to go. No one told me that it was bad, but just how intense it was. Don’t get me wrong, up to this day, I really enjoy horror movies and haunted houses, but I have always been nervous about attending Fear Fair.

Fear Fair is a haunted house with four main attractions located just down in Seymour, IN. The attractions for 2019’s Fear Fair are The Pestilence, Rockford Riot, Ancient Evil, and Leveau’s Curse. The Pestilence is an evil witch that has cursed a village in the 14th Century with the Black Death. Rockford Riot is a building filled with prisoners acting like maniacs, which is terrifying. Your goal is to get your way through some violent felons. Make your way through catacombs filled with many skeletons in Ancient Evil. You will not just encounter skeletal heads, but also something much more terrifying. Leveau’s Curse is filled with voodoo powers, and you will have to meet Papa Legba, who might protect you. Every year, I always plan to go to this, but I have always chickened out last minute, but this year, I finally braved up, and there I was, in my friends’ car, heading down to Fear Fair.

My friends and I decided to head down on the opening weekend, which was actually on September 6th-7th. Upon arriving, the whole atmosphere, even while parking brought a scary feeling, which made my nerves higher than ever before. Fear Fair is located by a lot of buildings, but the setting when you arrive looks dark and creepy, where any creature can come scare you at any moment. When checking in to the haunted house, many scare actors slowly walked around, preying on who to scare next, or on who to turn its chainsaw on. I have to admit that the scare actors saw my fear before entering and followed me as I walked behind my friends slowly to not be close to them.

We waited in line, and it went fast! Upon being the next ones to head in and get scared, we took a picture in front of a prop as a woman with blood looking and then headed in to get an “official” group picture. After the picture, we were put into another line, which was a zigzag line of concrete walls we had to walk through in order to be put into a very fun, terrifying elevator, which is where the “horror” started. Words couldn’t explain how terrified I was, but man… the haunt was AWESOME!

Fear Fair is nationally ranked as “2018’s Top Five Haunts”, and also Indiana’s Best Haunted Attraction. This haunted attraction surpassed my expectations! Their scenes are the most real-life and terrifying. The scare actors are really top-notch, and the makeup was awesome! What amazes me is that once Halloween is over, they start to plan for next year’s haunt, all year long! Fear Fair is like a real horror movie you are put into. They also provide the most “real-life” cemetery. From the loud noises, little details, scare actors, and the effort put into the whole haunted attraction, I highly recommend you to come with your friends. Fear Fair is very safe in safety, and you will be told how safe and fun it is before entering. My high respects for Fear Fair, because now I think it’s Halloween season here in Indiana. Thank you Fear Fair for just making it awesomely terrifying!

Fear Fair is opened Friday and Saturdays, and some Sundays starting September 6th. You can pick different types of tickets. There is the general admission, slash pass, and an extra fear type of ticket! You will not be disappointed when you head down there, or even after. Come on down to Indiana’s best-haunted house, Fear Fair!
