COLUMBUS, Ind. – Hot temperatures are expected through the end of next week. The extreme heat can pose a serious threat to health and safety, especially to vulnerable populations.
Bartholomew County Emergency Management says that Donner Center, 739 22nd St., in Columbus, will open its doors as a “Cooling Station” for temporary relief to those who need it. This Bartholomew County Cooling Station will be available Tuesday, June 18, through Friday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The weather will continue to be monitored to see if the dates need to be extended.
Crates for pets, from Columbus Animal Care Services, will be provided. Dogs and cats will not be allowed to roam freely inside Donner Center.
Cooling stations are cool facilities where individuals, who do not have air conditioning, can come in to cool down and continue on their way. Food, showers, and areas for sleep are not available.
You are asked to respect the rules and other individuals in the facility.
