Parts of Washington Street in downtown Columbus closed starting Monday

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Beginning Monday, June 30, the City of Columbus Department of Public Works will be closing sections of Washington Street to replace damaged “streetscape” bricks in downtown Columbus. The project will begin at the intersection of 3rd and Washington Streets.

Washington Street, between 3rd Street and 4th Street, will be shut down on Monday and Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no through traffic permitted.

On Wednesday, during the same hours, Washington Street, from 3rd Street to 2nd Street, will be closed with no through traffic allowed. Two lanes of westbound traffic on 3rd Street will be continuously maintained.

Traffic control equipment will be in place during the closure. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and use caution around the workers.
