COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) officials predict that a dry and very warm environment will persist throughout the week, with highs ranging from the mid-80s to the lower 90s.

Bartholomew County remains in an Abnormally Dry Drought level despite recent rainfall in the area. Conditions could increase to a Moderate Drought level if the current weather pattern continues.

Elevated fire weather concerns are expected each afternoon through Friday, with relative humidity values as low as 25-35%.

Authorities are advising residents to use caution when open burning and to have a water source ready and by their side while burning.

Scattered showers and storms are possible Saturday and Sunday.
