Columbus woman arrested for alleged drunk driving following crash

COLUMBUS, Ind.– The Columbus Police Department (CPD) took a local woman into custody following a serious accident and possible drunk driving on Tuesday, November 18.

At 7:20 p.m., local first responders were called to the area of Indianapolis Road and Kenholt Drive for a personal injury crash. When they arrived, they found two heavily damaged vehicles and two people with blood on their arms and faces.

Based on the initial investigation, CPD determined that Vanessa Seyfried, 23, of Columbus, was traveling south on Indianapolis Road when she attempted to pass a car in front of her. As she was in the oncoming traffic lane, she collided with a vehicle driven by a 57-year-old Nineveh woman that was going north on Indianapolis Road.

Neither driver reported being injured. However, Vanessa’s passenger suffered a broken arm. He was taken to the Columbus Regional Hospital.

While speaking to Seyfried, officers reportedly smelled alcohol and noticed signs that she was impaired. They then began an impaired driving investigation.

Ultimately, Seyfried was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.
