TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reminds travelers that the northbound and southbound I-65 Rest Areas near Taylorsville in Bartholomew County, between Exits 68 and 76, will close for reconstruction beginning this Friday, December 5.
The northbound and southbound rest area locations will be converted to truck parking-only facilities. The project is anticipated to be complete in late 2027.
Both the northbound and southbound rest areas will remain closed throughout the project’s duration. INDOT says traffic impacts are not expected on I-65 during the construction.
Improvements planned for the Taylorsville Rest Areas (I-65 SB, MM 74.5 / I-65 NB, MM 72.5) are:
- Construction of 38 more truck parking spots at the northbound rest area (new total-75 spaces)
- Construction of 31 more truck parking spots at the southbound rest area (new total-75 spaces)
- Construction of two new trucker restroom facilities at each location
- Removal of the current restroom facilities at each location
