COLUMBUS/GREENSBURG, Ind. - The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post arrested a Bartholomew County man Thursday morning, November 5, on a charge related to a criminal incident that occurred in Decatur County three months earlier.

ISP detectives began investigating after a victim alleged that they were battered at a Decatur County property in August.

After the investigation concluded, detectives presented the case to the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office (DCPO) for review. Subsequently, DCPO issued an arrest warrant for the suspect.

ISP took Brian M. Vaillancourt, 32, of Columbus, into custody at his residence on Thursday on the warrant for one count of Sexual Battery (Level 6 Felony). Columbus Police Department officers assisted in the arrest.

Authorities transported Vaillancourt to the Decatur County Jail, where he was incarcerated pending an initial court appearance.
