NORTH VERNON, Ind. - The Jennings County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) was called to a residence in rural Butlerville on Saturday afternoon regarding to a report of a female who had allegedly been battered by a male subject, later identified as Ethan Hall.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Hall had fled the scene on foot. The suspect also had an active felony arrest warrant through Jennings County for Child Support.

JCSO Chief Deputy Cody Low, who was off duty at the time and spending time with his family in a wooded area nearby, was contacted by dispatch at the request of on-duty deputies to advise on the situation.

While speaking with dispatch, Chief Deputy Low observed a man walking down a creek toward his location. Low requested a description of the suspect, and unbelievably, it matched the description of the man near him. Chief Deputy Low approached the subject and safely detained him until on-duty deputies arrived.

Hall was taken into custody without further incident.
