COLUMBUS/NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) held a public information meeting last week for the planned State Road 7 roadway improvement project in Bartholomew and Jennings counties. The meeting, held at Jennings County High School, offered the public an opportunity to interact with the project team and receive the latest updates.
The project aims to improve safety and mobility, as well as reduce crashes on S.R. 7, between Columbus and North Vernon, by widening the roadway to install shoulders and a middle turn lane at specific locations along the corridor.
The contract will be opened to bidders in the fall of 2028, with work starting after it is awarded.
The project’s Maintenance of Traffic plan requires single lane closures on S.R. 7 during construction.
