Sue Griffith Smith vice president of technology and applied science at Ivy Tech will chat about her first novel entitled Sacrifice.  The book tells the story of Laurel Mae Blair, a girl growing up in an Eastern Kentucky mining town who wants out — out of the coal camp, out of the mountains and out of poverty. She marries and talks her husband into leaving their home and moving to Indiana in an attempt to fit into a higher socioeconomic class.  In addition to her book Smith will talk about the culture of the mining families in eastern Kentucky, and on the process of writing a novel.  Copies of Sacrifice will be available from the author.
