COLUMBUS, Ind. — The City of Columbus has announced that Unused American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds from the PAACT housing program are being redirected to the CHIP 2.0 initiative to ensure full expenditure before federal deadlines.
The Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety approved an addendum to the city's contract with the Administrative Resources Association (ARA), which administers the programs.
The reallocation occurred when one of the ten participating developers stepped back from the PAACT program for personal reasons. Seven infill home projects under PAACT have been completed and sold to private individuals, with two remaining in development.
Unlike the original CDBG-funded CHIP program, CHIP 2.0 allows home maintenance assistance for homeowners earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI). City officials said that several maintenance projects are in the pipeline to be completed by year-end.
