EDINBURGH, Ind. - The Town of Edinburgh is moving forward with major upgrades to its electrical infrastructure following approval of a key contract for its Industrial Park Substation project.
At the October 12 town meeting, council members voted to award a $1,434,045 contract to Switchgear Power Systems (SPS)/Midwest Electrical Solutions. The town will procure a prefabricated control building to house core protection, communication, and electronic equipment required to regulate power flow and handle storm outages.
In related action, the council authorized Town Attorney Dustin Huddleston to review legal bid documentation to prepare solicitations for the substation's exit circuits, which will distribute power to the local service area. The council also approved releasing an $80,810.62 retainage payment to Electrocom for completed underground utility work along State Road 252.
Engineering and legal preparations for the electrical projects are moving forward immediately.
