UPDATE: Juvenile male arrested for murder in Friday night shooting in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Columbus Police Department (CPD) has released an update on the Friday evening shooting death of a 17-year-old boy that took place at Parkview Rental Townhomes, in the 3200 block of Country Brook Drive.

On Saturday afternoon, September 12, CPD took another 17-year-old male into custody and preliminarily charged the suspect with murder.   

Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the apartment complex at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Medics worked to try to save the teen, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound.

The initial investigation indicated that a group of juveniles was fighting when the teenager was shot. 

Detectives and crime scene investigators are still following up on leads and hope to share more information in the coming days.
